If you have sent your resume into the void and have heard nothing in return, take a look at the resume you sent. Does it have typos? Over 60% of recruiters will discard a resume for this reason. Does it have misspellings? Does it say that you are interested in work in an industry other than the one you are sending it to, or that you are excited to be applying for a job that isn't the one that was advertised?
If your cover letter is an email, does it include LOL or other text-ese? Did you use an unprofessional email address (defined as anything other than your name or initials)?
All of these are things that will probably cause a hiring manager to hit "delete."
